Adam Kurtz Newsletter #14
April 10, 2009
Just a quick one-two at ya reminding you Portlanders that tonight I'll be playing at Slainte (also on the bill the awesome Seymore - definitely worth coming to hear them and then loitering for me). The show is FREE FREE FREE ($0), Katrina will be stirring the cocktails, and I'll be belting out some new songs, and some old classics (from all the way back in ought eight!). Nancy will accompany me no doubt on some of those!
Slainte - Today the 10th

Then tomorrow - Saturday the 11th of April - I'll tow Keith and Nancy down to Boston to the All Asia Cafe, where we will play for our dear Bostonian fans/friends/stragglers. We'll be on at 8:30pm, and this is part of the CNC music showcase so there'll be bands on before and after. As per usual.
All Asia Cafe - Saturday the 11th

Welcome to Spring 2009 everyone - though for you Russians out there I know you think it started March 1 - well it didn't - it's based on where the Earth is in relation to the sun, it's not an arbitrary date. But I digress...
This Saturday, March 28, I play at the Empire in Portland, ME opening for This Way and Pete Miller. This will be with the 3-piece: me on electric, keith on bass, and nancy on vocals. (Facebook Event Page).
The next Saturday, April 4, will be the debut of the new iteration of the full band. Want to hear your favorite Adam Kurtz songs rocked out like you've never heard them rolled out before? Then come out. The new lineup features stalwarts Keith Mann on bass, Elijah Ocean on acoustic guitar, Nancy Cartonio on vocals, and introducing Michael C. Anderson on drums. You won't want to miss this! Opening for Loverless, with Brown Dog Jonez and Shawn Saindon on the bill as well. At Empire Dine and Dance. (Facebook Event Page.)
Additionally, a mini tour of sorts greets us in April:
April 10 @ Slainte in Portland
(Facebook Event Page).
April 11 @ All Asia Cafe in Boston
Facebook Event Page).
Exhausting, I know.
Also - for those of you who know my alter ego Viktor II, we with brother Viktor I just epicly landed on the Greek Island of Poros. For video documentary of our exploits, free up 9 minutes and 36 seconds and go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4BW9SvIc0A
First, come on out to hear me and Keith; there are lots of opportunities if you live in the upper east side of the continental US. We're playing the front lounge area of Portland's newest venue, the Port City Music Hall, on February 20. This will likely be the first show with our Harmonies Guru, Nancy. Come welcome her to the band and check out the PCMH. Two birds killed with one rock.
Then, three days later, I will be playing solo at the Delancey in Manhattan on Feb 23 as part of 'laid off Mondays', an all-too-appropriately named evening celebrating New York's, and presumably Portland's, recently unemployed. Then there's gonna be a big to-do at Slainte Pub (Portland) on February 29th, aka Leap Day, but actually that's Sunday March 1, since 2009 is not a leap year. But why not acknowledge Leap Day! Free drinks for anyone born Feb 29 (hopefully). This will be a great show, with Please Be Ours and Brown Dog Jonez also playing. It'll be an evening show as it's a Sunday, so don't be worried about being kept out too late (for any of you suckers working on Monday mornings).
As always, you are invited to see more details at adamkurtzmusic.com/shows.
Two other things:
For you Facebook users, come on in and join the new Facebook group for all things to do with my music. Just log in and follow this link (then click 'join group'): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=64162879898&ref=nf
Also, I have put on the Mp3's section of my website THREE full length albums, including the recent version of The Family Album (recorded December 2008), my first album, "Halfway Rock", recorded 2005-2006, and then the original version of The Family Album, recorded December 1998. All are free to download, so might as well, right?
